Spring is officially here! This means an increase in activity in and around airports. When heading out for flight training, it’s important to keep traffic in mind while choosing your ideal practice areas. Colorado Flight training is a specialized procedure and requires diligent attention when practicing in different airspaces around Colorado. Here at Aero-Sphere we offer different practice areas along with useful tips for navigating the skies during these high-traffic times.

We offer practice areas with great views, but beware of high traffic!

If you’re interested in views of the mountains, multitudes of lakes, rivers, and clear air, Aero-Sphere has several practice areas that deliver. Flight training in Longmont, Boulder, Loveland, Erie, and Fort Collins will provide you with a scenic experience. However, these areas tend to be very saturated. Boulder flight training can be very congested, training in areas north of Boulder like Longmont will provide you with great views and less traffic.Your flight instructor will advise you to stick to strict guidelines and to not venture outside of the practice areas.

We offer areas with less traffic, that are best for Colorado flight training.

When it comes to practicing flight maneuvers, you want to stick to areas with less congestion. We have practice areas between Loveland and Longmont, as well as between Boulder and Longmont that cater to students needing areas with low traffic. The Loveland area, offering excellent landmark references, is beneficial for students training in flight maneuvers.

Use the 10/3 method for scanning the skies!

While training in highly saturated practice areas, extra vigilance for other aircrafts becomes vital. During Aero-sphere flight training we encourage our students to use the 10/3 method for scanning. This method involves scanning in 10 degree increments; one would scan for 3 seconds before moving on to the next 10 degree area. Our flight instructors also encourage students to only focus on instruments 10% of the time, leaving the other 90% to observing your surroundings.

Safe and trustworthy flying is our commitment to you.

At Aero-sphere our objective is to create the safest and most proficient flight experience for all of our clients. We emphasize safety when it comes to the maintenance and operations of our aircrafts. We make sure each aircraft is in 100% working, airworthy order; ensuring that all components are addressed, fixed, or replaced before take off.

Flight training can be a lot of fun, and very rewarding, but pilots in training must keep their eyes open for other aircrafts.  Our flight instructors are committed to helping you learn how to navigate through high traffic and teach you the best practices for a safe and fun flight training experience. We encourage you to stop by, take a look at our practice areas, and familiarize yourself with them before flight. Whether you’re training, practicing as a professional pilot, or just flying for fun…keep a watchful eye out and look for others in the sky!
