COVID-19: Aero-sphere Opening May 9, 2020 for Flight Training

May 6, 2020 – Aero-Sphere be open May 9th for all flight training. We will be operating under “safer-at-home” guidelines. These include:

  1. If you can not maintain a 6′ distance from any other person, you will be expected to wear face-covering. This means that dual flight training will require masks to be worn by the student and CFI (and any passengers).
  2. Please plan to purchase your own headset rather than using a loaner. We are now an authorized David Clark headset dealer and have some great deals available to clients.
  3. Schedule flight lessons as needed but please be on time and plan to finish at the scheduled times. However, in order to maintain social distancing, please don’t plan to hang around before or after your lesson.
  4. If you feel sick or have any symptoms of illness or have had contact with someone experiencing symptoms, PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE AIRPORT. The health and safety of our clients and staff is always our top priority.
  5. We will continue our regular cleaning of the rental fleet. However, you may wish to bring your own disinfecting wipes to clean frequently-touched surfaces (yokes, handles, buttons, etc.). Please use extreme caution when using sanitizing wipes on avionics as they may damage the screen. You will be held responsible for any damage – and avionics can be expensive! If you are uncertain or uncomfortable, please ask one of our staff to help you.

We appreciate everybody’s patience during this time and we will do our best to make sure that your experience with us is valuable and meaningful.

Updated Rental Terms & Agreement:

April 21, 2020 – We have updated our Aircraft Rental Agreement Contract – Please contact one of our CFIs or stop by the office for a copy of the new agreement. You must complete and sign the updated rental agreement prior to any solo flying, regardless if you’re a rated or student pilot. Please note the following changes:

    • We now REQUIRE renters insurance that covers you to a $5,000.00 deductible. The insurance industry has changed a great deal in recent months and rates have increased 30% over last year. Requiring our clients to have rental liability helps so we don’t increase our rental rates. Please seek AOPA, AVEMCO, Global Aerospace, or others. (Starr Companies no longer provides rental coverage).
    • Our cancellation policy has changed: We accept cancellations up to 12 hours prior to the reserved time. This policy applies to no-shows and cancellations after the 12-hour period. Cancellations due to weather are not included in this policy. This change is due to the following reasons:
      1. Aircraft are limited and no-shows hurt everyone else trying to reserve aircraft.
      2. Our CFIs coordinate their schedules to help everyone. Canceling makes it harder to schedule you when you want to meet with your CFI.
      3. Personnel are here to help you when you cancel your flight, they can’t plan to help others
    • We’ve updated our accepted payment methods to include cash, credit cards, check, and now Venmo and Zelle. Contact Shane for details.

ID Badges:

March 23, 2020 – In order to meet TSA and DHS regulations and link your association with Aero-Sphere, all clients will soon be required to obtain an ID badge. Badges will be available starting in early April and will cost $15 each. You can provide your own photo or we will take one for you when your badge is made at the office. More information coming soon!
